Re: MSFS 20' or 24'

Regarding the MSFS2020 I can recommend it fully, together with freeware Flybywire A320Neo (Dev version). However, and it happened today, thus the post, beware of the ditch across KDFW 36R. It appeared today at my last leg , just as I touched down, across the entire runway. Nice, deep, well-defined d...

Re: USA Flight Planing Map

Yeah, no flight numbers, I figured that out after the post, that makes it not really useful, maybe just for visual cues, and then digging for exact flight numbers... Also tiny I agree...

Re: USA Flight Planing Map

During many years since last post here, it seems like the real AA caught up with the virtual enthusiasts here, and made their own destination map at: http://aa.fltmaps.com/en

Re: Theme flight to Rick's - Play it again Sam

Very nice theme flight, thanks much for organizing! I managed to snap only couple of photos, first one high above Malaga, with sun setting, and the other one couple of minutes later, with the Gibraltar at the right... I was not alone landing at GMMN, two Royal Air Maroc vatsim flights were also ther...

Re: Apparent pilot's handbook ambiguity, code share flights for Captain

Thanks much Michael. There is one more potential ambiguity, this time regarding the Charter flights, same chapters:

Chapter 4 says: "You may fly a total of four (4) "Charter Flights" per month. "

whereas Chapter 8.1 table claims: "4 per bid"

Thanks

Robert

Apparent pilot's handbook ambiguity, code share flights for Captain

The chapter 4 of our Handbook at http://www.aavirtual.com/handbook.php states the: ``` AAV also provides One World and code share flights for our pilots subject to the following restrictions: 1. Pilots ranked Captain and below may fly any code share flight which departs and lands within the United S...

XPlane, paperspace and parsec cloud gaming

Just wanted to share my experience... If you ever get (temporary) away from your good faithful gaming pc... there is a solution, temporary, but functional... There are quite a few cloud providers offering cloud/online gaming solutions (with preinstalled games), but not so much when it comes to offer...

Re: Xplane users please, help needed

I too fly xplane but on Linux, at least until recently. Due to Linux, was forced to do manual freps, and while somewhat cumbersome, i kind of got used to it, i guess it somehow breaks the overautomated evnironments we all live/work/play in or adds the almost human bureaucratic element to it... Or so...

Re: MSFS 2020 Tips

Thanks all for the feedback on new (old) MSFS. I did not pulled the trigger (yet) and have been following this guy https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZ_X7kk3XrHbl6ZWQ4wpfkQ on youtube. Real B738 pilot, flies XPlane Zibo B738 usually, emphasis on full legs, vatsim, atc, checklists, procedures and real...

Re: Exciting News! Major updates to AAV operations.

Thanks Michael for maintaining and upgrading this site! Regarding the equipment, I was not able to pull down my new shiny carbon fancy A350-900 from the equipment menu at 'submit frep'. Not sure this is due to real-life fact(?) none of share-code partners are flying it, or it is just missing. At any...

Re: How big of an aviation fan are YOU?

My favourite park and lawn is right under KRDU 23L departures, especially when they turn left (to Florida mostly)... To bring lawn chair, have lunch, and spend couple of hours in the shade, with flightradar24 in hand, is one of best ways to spend the afternoon. I do play the 'guess the airplane' gam...

Airbus speeds articles

Having recently acquired new shiny A350, during my (steep) learning phase, I've stumbled upon, imho, great articles about speeds during various flight phases. While articles are most useful to airbus drivers, the terminology is generic enough, and the illustrations are very good for anyone to learn,...

Re: Congratulations ROBERT !!!

Thanks guys, this has bee so much fun so far! I've been flying simulators for waaay too many years now, but the introduction of VATSIM atc (voice component) and then the actual VA really elevated this fun activity to another even more fun level. Also the friendly environment here at aavirtual.com, u...

Poor man XPlane Acars (non windows)

Frustrated by the lack of proper acars-like utility for X-Plane on non-windows OS (Linux, other), I devised rudimentary, yet functional python script doing the following: 1. Assuming the vatsim filed flight, it starts by connecting to vatsim server and gathering the current flightplan for selected v...

Suggestion, homepage last forum post times in Zulu

Given the (simulated) aeronautical nature of the site, it may be just nice to have the home page 'Forum Activity', 'Time' column values displayed in Z Zulu times, possibly with mm/dd date if it fits.

Again, purely cosmetic and geeky, not a functional issue.
