Awesome! Do pls keep us posted about the progress.
While simacars is also windows only, the scanned traffic protocols may be useful for an attempt to implement rudimentary non windows equivalent...
I did some work on fsacars Linux equivalent and it seems it is in domain of possible...

Re: Microsoft Flight Sim 2020
Yes that is the great news!
I am still searching for some authoritative answers on how the new fs will behave with vatsim for this is one of major things for me...
I assume all will be fine, vatsim being pretty much fs independent.

XPlane takeoff and landing performance utility
For XPlane users, I stumbled upon very useful takeoff and landing performance calculator utility, very simple to use, and for simbrief planned flights, almost completely automated, drawing all required data (origin/dest/metars/runway lenghts, etc) from simbrief. User is required to nothing but speci...

Suggestion, FREP with pull down list of currend bid flight numbers
Not a showstopper, but one of these "would be nice if easy to implement"... At FREP sumbit page: https://aavirtual.com/pages.php?name=Submit_FREP At field: "FLIGHT NUMBER", instead of current blank text input field, query for and use the editable pulldown list of current user bid...

Re: Flight sim downloads on windows 8.1
Not sure if it applies for your laptop, but the windows 8.1 can be updated to windows 10 for free. You may have more overall luck with current OS, versus the win 8.1 being semi-retired and not so much attended to by manufacturer. Again, not sure if applicable to your particular hardware, just a thou...

Airport Gates, fightaware
Hi all, What are you using to determine the departure/arrival gates? So far I've been using flightaware to find out the AA (or related) flight on the same route, and then check what exact gates they used at last flight... Often, there is no -exact- match to the flight I am flying (I am using random ...

Re: XPlane Linux and AAVrecorder format for check flights
Thanks Mike for looking into that. Absolutely no issue here, I think for my next checkride when/if it happen I will put on my digital paranoia hazmat suit and reboot into windows and fly it from there... On the related note, do you know the format the regular flights are received/logged? The thing t...

Re: X-Plane 11 Help with Acars
My DNS provider (opendns.com) claims the satavirtual.org is 'phishing site'... and blocks it (I mean I can get to it if I really want to)... However, when I go and query the opendns.com on why it thinks so, there is no proper answer... So ... something is definitely 'phishy'... but unsure where, is ...

Re: X-Plane 11 Help with Acars
Just a note the step 3, at least in my browser (chrome) pops up the warning that site may be a 'phishing' one, thus not advisable for clicking on. I did not. There are other places where the 'fsacars' appears to be available, but none of these seem 'official' or something in that fashion. It is tric...

Re: Oops...
Runway repairs? Naaah... This was but a scratch... And my buttery landings... Come thinking of it, as that happened, and passengers disembarked, I went out with a broom (there is always a broom in lavatory, of course) and merely swiped the runway, that was all it needed. Couple of antennae, pieces o...

Re: New Equipment
What?! Outrageous! I will call the dealership first thing Monday morning and request them to re-paint the numbers. Who knows what else they botched... They also claimed they don't have it in MD Metallic (Aluminum) color, and also they had no sunroof window (MD like) model. If it was not for my MD be...

New Equipment
Tootaly unrelated by my trustworthy MD83 being currently in body shop ("It will buff out..."), my budget operation went for a major investment and got a shiny new piece of equipment at sale ($29 at https://store.x-plane.org/SSG-E-Jets-170-Evolution_p_502.html if anyone is interested) I am ...

When you are proud of very smooth landing... ...and puzzled why/how the autobrakes (1) stopped you soo quickly and why it is you are not moving anymore, right there at taxiway exit, throttles open and all... On a serious (?) note, can this flight still be submitted as FREP, I mean, everyone walked o...

Re: XPlane Linux and AAVrecorder format for check flights
One more kind request, if anyone has any additional info on the software (program) used to read and visualize the .dat files produced by AAVRecorder.
If by any chance such software has open source, it may reveal internals of the .dat file.
Again, not a big deal. Thanks.
