VR piloting report

Post by Michael Blakely »

My son bought an HTC VR system with goggles, headphones, and room wide motion detection. I always thought VR would be the ultimate virtual cockpit, and IT IS! He set me up in a combat simulator in a P-38 lightning. I could look all over and it was perfect. I flew for about 15 minutes, and the experience was AWESOME!

Then..........

My inner ear reported to my stomach that is was not sensing all the radical rolls, tight turns, inversions, and dives that the eyes were reporting. As is normal, the stomach said "this is not acceptable" and rebelled. I had to rip off the goggles to keep from barfing.

........but it was SO COOL! Maybe if I work my way up to the more extreme maneuvers.
