Point system for check flights

Post by Wayne Pierce »

To all Pilots at AAV:
A point system for your check flights has been devised.
The thought behind this is that all applicants will be scored using the same criteria. Also,of course now you know what we are looking for in the way of your errors. If you can fly the check flights correctly then you will fly your FREQ's correctly.
Correct check flights make happy check flight checkers. :D

Below is the basic breakdown.

Point system for check flights;
Up to and include -9 points = PASS -10 or more points=- FAIL

1. Take off and/or landing on incorrect runway, missing runway. -5
2. Vertical landing speed in excess of -500vpm. -5
3. Gross Non-adherence to written instructions. -5
4. Wrong cruise altitude for direction of flight. -5
5. Airspeed over 250kias under 10,000' more than momentarily. -5
6. Holding speed over maximum of 265kias. -2
7. Greater than 4 miles from check flight navigation point. -2
8. Altitude restriction missed per charts. -5
9. Speed restriction missed per charts. -5
10. Excess of 3,000fpm vertical speed during ascent or descent. -2
11. Incorrect navigation of check flight. -2

One does not know what will be on the next check flight until you receive it. We need to have something to keep "secret".😀
