Question here. Do you have an external radio head or use the on screen radio from the A/C?
The reason I ask is PMDG is very propriatary with their products. My Go Flight products nor my Saitek Multi panel do not work with the PMDG stuff. They hang up and cause problems.

Also, if you are flying online, don't forget the dot (.) commands in SB or FSInn. To change the comm radios use .cn fff.f where n is the radio # and fff.ff is the freq - i.e .c1 122.8

Wouldn't think FSUIPC would affect that.
