Which Sim are people mostly using? Had to recently do a reinstall due to a failing hard drive. I was going to reinstall FSX..but took pause. What are people mostly using. ..what are the recommendations. I'd had to re-purchase all planes that I have...not really wanting. Are a lot of people still usi...

Re: Dovetail Pulling Plug on Flight Sim World
Howdy all. We'll I've been away for a very long time. Just installed a new ssd drive and was thinking of resintalling FSX. I came on to see what plateform everyone was running..and considering box fsx vs steam versions. Is this Flight Sim World they are talking about different that FSX Steam? Just s...

Here is my feed on flightaware. Pretty cool set up they have. Looks like I'm able to just reach over 100 miles.

Re: PlanePlotter
Thought I'd post a little comparison. Compared Flightaware against my antenna. Mine data was ahead of flightaware. That being said, I feed data to Flight aware.

Re: PlanePlotter
You capture your local traffic or what ever traffic is within range of your antenna. But you share to the network, and also download from the network. if you hover the cursor over the aircraft, you get data on the plane, and also which reciever is supplying the information. so you can see the traffi...

Re: PlanePlotter
The only problem is that not all aircraft use ADS-B. It's mostly on newer aircraft. But as the conversion from old to newer aircraft, they'll be a time when you'll be capturing the majority of the information.

Re: PlanePlotter
Flightradar24 and flightaware are different to an extent. They use information from airports, faa, and other private enterprises. So yes there is a delay there. Flightaware is into the ADS-B and S-mode info big time now. So much so that any one who runs a PlanePlotter or other tracking software can ...

Re: PlanePlotter
I'm kind of just into it. It is real time tracking of real world airplane with information gathered off an antenna that connects to a USB dongle. It utilizes SDR...software defined radio drivers to capture and messages sent out by airplanes. Basically it captures ADS-B and S-mode data emitted by air...

Re: My other hobby
And here is a video I took tonight. Watch it in 1080P60 frames so you can actually see what I'm trying to capture. Sweeper Tentacle from Favia (on the right) reaching all the way over to hammer coral (on the left). Actually goes between hammer head and then sweepers retract quickly at the end. Sweep...

Re: My other hobby
...and I'll be honest. This hobby is an addiction. The more you don't know, the more you want to learn. The more you learn the more you want to try. And the cycle starts all over again. The science behind it all...the chemistry...the biology. It's just addicting.
