Another WOW.

It seems that the un-official non-contest between Bert and Fareed has taken another turn.

Fareed's lowest FPS so far really is something @ -17 .

Nice going!

The -3 was a total fluke because I did it flying a JS-31. If you look at my log, I probably average somewhere in the 100-200 range or higher. My landing rate is also directly proportional to my landing weight in most cases.
Landing rates were discussed to an extent here not too long ago. I have read elsewhere that it is desirable to plant yourself authoritatively on Terra Firma if there is water/snow/ice on the runway which passes the common sense test IMHO; but then again, I'm not a real pilot. I just play one on VATSIM.
Hopefully some of our resident CFI's can elaborate further.

I read somewhere that making a soft landing is nice but in most cases to do so takes an extended amount of runway as you float over the runway trying to hold it off for that greaser landing. By doing this you are potentially creating a possible issue for yourself as you are giving yourself less runway to stop once on the ground. The article took the position it is best to land as early as possible on the runway even if it means a little harder landing so that you have plenty of remaining runway to stop.
