Flying upside down just means you'll fit right in with the rest of us.

I put 2:00pm PDT in the caledar. For GFIs is that usually meet up, contact ATC, or push back time?

The time in the calendar usually means wheels up but you're the boss. It can mean whatever you want it to.

I understand we all have lives in the RW but I'm hoping a week's notice for a one-time special event may motivate some of you who may not be able to attend group flights regularly. There was once a time when we could gather double-digit attendance to group flights and great times were had by all (except maybe those who were heckled for landing short or crashing on final
). I would love to see us do that again at least once a year. If that were to be Rick's legacy to the group it would be very fitting. Even if you don't participate in the forums for whatever reason, I am sure the rest of the regulars would be very appreciative if more of our pilots could gather and share in an afternoon of flying and fun.

Sounds like a party...I like parties...I'm in.
And Mike I've actually tried flying upside down doing a GFI....couldn't get the jet complete the roll.

I think you need to redo that Commander checkride Ted.

Watched Top Gun with my teenage girls this weekend. They did the same thing in THEIR GFI.

I would really be impressed if I don't know "it's fake...."

I would join in but I will be at work. One of the joys of working at a hotel is there is no such thing as a weekend. Just another work day.

That's right kids, The Boss™ is online with us. No pressure during approach and landing...

I'll admit, that was hairy. I've not flown into a busy DFW in a LOOOONG time.
I filed the final FREP and moved it to Rick's pilot number, so it's awaiting approval at the KDFW hub.
Thanks everyone for a great GFI. We had Harold, Ted, Bert, Wayne, and myself. Here's the final picture with 4 of the 5.
Here's my "areas for improvement" for the next one....
1. Listen "faster" to ATC
2. Practice my ATC phrasology
3. Slow down - burned up the brakes stopping the plane on landing
4. Figure out why approach couldn't hear me for 2 minutes, meanwhile everyone else is on teamspeak going "Mike, they're calling you, Mike, hey Mike"

Great flight into a busy DFW! It's been a while for me as well, but aside from the non-AAVer who needed every ATC instruction repeated and required 30 minutes to respond it was a fun flight with traffic, weather issues and ATC all the way.
