I think I'm going to take my Cheyenne. With those slow spool tuboprops, you don't want to get behind the power curve - especially coming over that hill!!! Should be fun.

I have been practicing with the KODIAK Quest and following approach chart, at least what there is of it. The Kodiak stops on a Dime and gives you 9cents change.

If you want to go old school, go all out and fly a Super Connie in there! :P

OOOOO a DAD GFI. It's been years since we had one of those. Let me think...battle it out with my daughter to get her to bed or fly a DAD GFI. Yes. ...yep. I'll see you guys tonight. ATR or PC12. hmmmm....decisions decisions.

An ATR would be too big to fly in there. There is a private charter that has almost daily flights into TFFJ in a PC12 though. ;)

As much as I want to fly this tonight I have to go work the sheriff's office tonight. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll get to do some real flying. I will definitely make the Sunday run though! Don't have too much fun without me and don't burn down the airport.

So I stressed my pc12 on the decent into St Barts. i'm a loser. any way, decided to get off, especially since ctr was being an *** to Sergio after his sim crashed. as he was arguing with Sergio he dumped me to unicom. really? if you are just going to dump Sergio to unicom, then why argue about it. DB!

I worked TJSJ for a while and ended up quitting. The ATM at the time was demanding 10 hours a month on the scope and I just couldn't guarantee that I could do that. (I was working 3 jobs at the time) He didn't give me any other option so I quit.

Since then I really haven't been impressed by the quality of the staff down there so I don't fly those routes as much as I used to.

That being said, if he's working CTR you are not required to contact him when you are flying VFR. He'll just have to get over it. It wouldn't have been the first time that I politely cancelled IFR and switched to UNICOM on my own. ;)

The whole flight was frustrating, especially for me since I don't get to fly that often. I was really looking forward to it, but just getting off the ground was bad. It was hard to understand ground any how, he spoke so slow and english was obviously not his first language (not complaining about that, trust me. my grandmother only speaks spanish). he just seemed like he was overwhelmed and like he did not know what he was doing. I don't think that it was that busy there. We were basically the only ones there, save for a couple of other flights. I had a working mic but opted to say i did not just so I could get text.

I may just edit the posting for tomorrow and we can take off VFR from TJIG. The route would be the same but we wouldn't have to deal with ATC. The scenery is much better at 1500 ft anyway. :D

Gathered at San Juan for this challenge thrown out by Bert (Bert? Where's Bert? Anybody seen Bert?) were Rey long-tme absent Ramon (AAV125), Rob welcome-back Shepherd (AAV314), Rick Stevens (AAV409), Ted Stevens (AAV537), me (AAV580), Sergio banned-yet? Sanchez (AAV742), Wayne Pierce (AAV783), Jerry Swalling (AAV953), and Jim Parish (AAV1050). Quite a gathering ... just to be disappointed by San Juan ATC/Vatsim whichever is the case. Won't go into details as it has already been mentioned.

So, here I am in my retro L188 Electra, Wayne in his Cheyenne, and Rick's D-6.

Rob manages to get off first. I was the second or third to call for taxi then developed sound problems and had to fly most of the flight with FS sound turned off so I could hear ATC. Between my sound issue and ATC/Vatsim issues, I ended up near the back of the pack.

As you can see the cluster has begun. Wait .... wait .... wait .... wait ....

Rick and Jerry waiting at the hold line. Ted behind Rick. Jim and me behind Jerry.
