Ronald, Your frustration is going to get worse here fella, first off you cannot use your FMC,and your GPS either, forget planning there. You are given charts which has all the navigation directions, headings, instructions you need. Your aircraft has two nice Nav radios which dial the VOR freq well and you have CRS contols which will tell you on the dash panel where your at by triangulaion navigation. You have DME equipment, you have an altimeter built into your airplane and a speedometer. Your autopilot will only work using the heading and altitude control. You have only manual throttle control.

Now what more do you need? This is a flight to see how you can handle it without your FMC. If all the sattelites were knocked out of the sky how does one figure out where they are? the old map and compass trick works every time.

Now, please, if you have any questions contact us at training@aavirtual.com and we will really be more than glad to help you out.
Thanks Wayne

Yeah Mike. I took that pic about a year and a half ago. Terrible winter day. No FMS, 3 round trips from Salt Lake to Twin Falls, 5 ILS approaches to minimums in Twin; all to missed approaches. We were originally scheduled to go to Sun Valley on these trips but the weather in Sun was well below minimums. When this happens in the winter they have us go to Twin Falls and then bus the passengers from there. But on this day nobody got to get a bus ride....well at least not from Twin. Oh and our auto-pilot was deferred too lol. It was a long day :)

So you had to hand fly the entire trip? That's a bummer.

Yeah. Actually had to be a pilot and use some that pilot stuff learned in training.
