Problem with Flight 1 DC 9 Classic

I downloaded the F1 DC 9 Claasic recently with UAC and AV disabled as recomended by the suuport forum. I also rebooted prior to starting FSX with Admin Rights. My consistenet problem is that I have no aircraft "skin" or wings. Everything else is fine. The plane would probably be the most adanced I have seen and I am use to the MADDOG which sets the bar high. Anyone have any thoughts on why the external model doesn't seem to want to load with the livery. It as though there is a glass skin to the a/c;think wonderwoman's jet! LOL Any advice would be appreciated, this seems to be a beautiful design.

Michael - sounds like memory problems and/or graphics card. Might try going to lower graphics resolution to see if it loks right then. Assuming from your description the only problem is graphics.
Also try their forum -

It might be memory, but, I have run into this same problem in the past with other aircraft. The skin your trying to load up may not be fully installed. The aircraft is using stock texture files from the common texture and the ones that are missing are not installed correctly/missing/in the wrong folder. The aircraft .cfg may not be pointing to the correct texture.
I have no problem with it with or without using Admin rights. I have had problems with Mcphat skins on several occasions, due to my error.
Hope it all works and you get if figured out.
Good luck.

Could it be a problm with Direct X? I notice that he texture file extensions are .DDS (Direct Draw Surface) as opposed to bitmaps used in other a/c textures. I am not very literate with some of these programming issues but my guess is that I have an issue with this????????

If one is using the DX 10 mode in FSX that is a problem with many aircraft textures, along with some scenery packages. Could be the problem. Simple check, go back to DX9 and see if it works.
I assume your using the new "fix" for DX10 as posted?

That was the suggestion I was going to make. I had the same problem when I switched to using DX10 (checking the DX Preview box in FSX). I had aircraft that only displayed the frame and none of the skin. However, strangely enough, I exited FSX and then relaunched it, followed by loading the a/c again and this time the skins appeared. There were a couple of a/c that I had to load a second time (and I don't mean reinstalling them) to get full displays. Doesn't make sense to me but that's what happened.
It is possible that it takes some time to build or load tables or data for the skins when DX10 is being used and I didn't give it enough time the first time I selected the a/c.
Not an expert and have no knowledge here, just guessing.
Also there is a possibility that the a/c is not DX10 compatible.

I do not have that DX 10 preview box checked but maybe I will try running DX 9 instead....I have been on the suport forum and they just recomend a variety of different installs.......FLight 1 is a good company, I will just ask for a refund I guess,,,ashame, it's a really nice payware a/c

You DO have or DON't have DX10 Preview checked? If it is checked definitely worth unchecking and trying in DX9. Would be a real shame to give up on this a/c as it is very very good and fun to fly.
