Group Flight Down Under

This weekend's GFI was pretty nice. There were just three of us, but we had a good time. I meant to get some shots taxiing for departure, but for some reason I forgot. The first one I have is on climbout from Canberra, Wayne and Ted in the background. Rick intended to join us, but some serious weather at his home had other plans. Hope all is ok with you and yours sir!

Finally at cruise and nearing TOD I'm scanning the METAR and the least of our worries was the 600 ft overcast ceiling. Soup to the left...

I hadn't done an IFR approach like that in quite some time. I had my hands so full I completely forgot to take any shots inside the clouds. Somehow I made it, but I didn't quite set down as smoothly as Master Ted in this shot, whose touchdown vsi was in the double digits.

As you can see, Wayne was so embarrassed by his approach that he hid inside a building! Top to bottom: Ted, yours truly and Wayne "Head-in-a-building" Pierce. We had no ATC, probably due to the time difference in Australia, but we had a good time. It would be nice to break the GFI attendance record one day and top 19 pilots in attendance. That was blast! Until next time! :)

Glad to hear you're well sir. I've been watching some of the videos out of OKC and it sure looked bad.

Hopefully the weather will be better for the Monday flight.
