I have a theory. I think FSACARS is measuring VS based on the nose gear instead of the main gear. I say this because I've had some landings I that were very good but because I was trying for a soft landing I had a high angle of attach so the nose was high. My VS per FSACARS was high. Other times I've had landings that i didn't think were that good because I was high on approach but would get a decent VS speed from FSACRS.Sergio Sanchez wrote:I found a nice little tool to log your flights in FlightSim. I flew yesterday from DFW to Atlanta and the tool behaved quite well... but when I landed, I found an interesting stat.
I landed quite smoothly and held the plane floating almost kissing the runway and AAV Acars gave me a touchdown VS of 250, while FSRecorder gave me a green line (which means good job) of 112.
In other cases I have landed quite smoothly only to see AAV ACARS pull some numbers like 300 or 450 fpm touchdown.... So...
Which one is correct? I would like to think that AAV ACARS is flawed, but who knows?
