Last night my boy scout troop held a surprise celebration for myself and another adult leader. I've been serving as scoutmaster for the last 4.5 years, and he has been working in multiple ways for over 25 years.

Our troop is big, 120+ scouts. We had 26 scouts, including my son, earn their Eagle Scout rank during my tenure. I can't begin to count how many miles I've hiked, canoed, backpacked, and swam with the scouts. I'm going to continue as a trek leader as long as I can, it's fun and it keeps me young.

Watching wild young 11 year olds transform into strong, capable, 17 year old leaders is the most rewarding part of all.
