Which Sim are people mostly using? Had to recently do a reinstall due to a failing hard drive. I was going to reinstall FSX..but took pause. What are people mostly using. ..what are the recommendations. I'd had to re-purchase all planes that I have...not really wanting. Are a lot of people still using FSX?

Go with 64 bit! I've got both P3Dv4 and x-plane 11, but do almost all my flying in P3Dv4. There are a few FREE payware quality a/c for x-plane, but you will pay about the same for good payware in either sim.

x-plane 11 graphics have really improved (in fact, I think x-plane now has an edge over FSX/P3D for screenshot contest entries), but I have not been able to feel comfortable with the GUI or flight control "feel" in x-plane 11 (though they continue to make improvements).

Take all this with a grain of salt as I have a tremendous investment ($$$ and time) in FSX-like sims (P3Dv4).

I'm using FSX with many add ons. PMDG, ORBX, REX, Level-D, etc. I tried X-plane and was unsatisfied with the availability of complex aircraft and airports.

I've mapped out my budget for moving to P3Dv4. I would switch today, but the CFO (wife) thinks painting the house and a new trailer need to come first. Maybe in 2020.

I fly FSX and get great graphics and performance. However, you can now see signs of support for FSX just starting to diminish and 64bit capabilities will provide potential for great new features and improvements. Therefore I too have started to looking at a new simulation platform. In my opinion the choice is between P3D and X-Plane (as already voiced by others in AAV). I have decided I will probably go with P3D when I finally pull the trigger because I have a big investment in payware a/c and at least some of them can be ported or upgraded to P3D. That option does not exist with X-Plane.

There now seems to be tremendous support for X-Plane (Orbx, Carenado, Aerosoft, etc.) at this point which is good for X-Plane.

Now all I have to do is work it into the budget (as Mike mentioned above).

My 2 cents....
