Tour across the USA (and part of Canada)

Kicking off the mother of all cross-country flights this Sunday, November 23rd at 6:00pm EST / 2300z.

The planned route is:

Depart: KEPM - Eastport Municipal Airport, Eastport, ME. The easternmost airport in the United States.

Arrive: 3B1 - Greenville Municipal Airport, Greenville, ME. A nothing-special about it airport with TWO runways measuring 4000 and 3000 ft respectively.

Distance: 112.7 nm

Course: 307°

Flights are in the general aviation aircraft of your choice. Rules are VFR (weather permitting). If the weather doesn't permit we reserve the right to reroute the day's leg to an IFR capable field. If we get caught in some weather well, we'll just have to figure it out "on the fly". Comms are on the AAV teamspeak channel. (Thanks guys, I hope it's ok for us to commandeer it for this. :D ) These flights are 1) for fun, 2) for learning all about those little tiny airplanes and the airports they fly into, 3) enjoying the virtual scenery and 4) NOT for GFI hours credit. The flights are purposely scheduled to be short, but if everyone feels like it we can keep heading west until we get tired. Feel free to enable random equipment failures, gyro drifts, etc. Crash detection is still frowned upon due to network limitations.

I hope we can keep this thread for the whole flight so we can go back and see our progress, or lack thereof, and hopefully some interesting screenshots. See you there!

Good turnout today! We actually have the first two legs of the trip under our belt finishing off at KEFK. Thanks to Wayne, Rick and Ted for rounding out the crew. My son got to fly the departure out of 3B1 and he didn't crash. There may actually be a future AAVer there.
Barry we missed you this week but maybe we'll see you on the next leg!

Here are some screenshots of the action...

Traffic on I-70 bit me and I couldn't get back in time. I'm flying it now. Let me know if you guys made it past KMSS.

KBUF-KERI departs today @ 6 pm Eastern Time. Be there or be square. :D

Update:

IFR capable equipment and flight plans will be required this week. Here are the METARS:

KBUF 142154Z 27004KT 8SM -DZ BKN013 OVC020 03/02 A3002 RMK AO2 DZE31B52
KERI 142214Z 28005KT 3SM BR BKN002 OVC009 04/03 A3006 RMK AO2 VIS 2 1/2 NE T00440033

DKK VOR is a suitable waypoint between airports and IFR approaches are available at KERI. As it stands right now, KERI is only 200 FT above alternate minimums so be prepared to divert if needed.

Good turnout today. The finishers were Mr. Wayne "Paratrooper" Pierce, Mr. Sergio "Bandido" Sanchez and yours truly. Rick started with us, but had some family issues to tend to before we departed. Mr. Ted "do-over" Martin stopped in to say hello on TS but could not join us due to technical issues beyond his control. We completed two legs and the weather was right on the limits for both. Thankfully everyone landed safely and much fun was had by all. :D

No sir, you should not.

Currently on the ground at KLPR... all by my lonesome... waiting to go.
