GFI's Where are we going? What's next?

Post by Wayne Pierce »

Fellow pilots, as having access to the calendar and sort of taken over the GFI schedule, and as I get to put in where I want to fly to next, I am going to, at least for awhile try some different approaches.

This weeks GFI is a prop one. If you notice the calendar, I have prescheduled different aircrafts for a GFI. I want to, for now, start scheduling one aircraft per GFI. I hope that this will get more pilots involved with the different skill levels and get us all up to speed on our different aircraft types. I am starting this week with one type and some weeks will have a different aicraft required. This will be mixed in with open flight aircraft GFI's where you fly what you want, sort of.

Now also, for now I am going to have the GFI's go across the country from one airport to the next and they may start where we left off the last week. If we are at an airport which will not handle the takeoff or landing of a heavy metal, then we will shuttle over to the closest airport. This will be mixed with others GFI's also as needed. Time to time I will put in a GFI which is from the real world AAL timetable using the times and aircraft for that flight.

Now, hopefully you have read this far, you will have noticed that the GFI's have been only about 550-580 miles long. Getting a group of us together for the three hours from sign on to sign off is hard enough. That is just about the distance most of us will go on a Friday or Sunday night. That isn't going to change.

Here is one new thing I will put in once in a while and if I feel like it. I will have a .ZIP file made up in advance with the appropriate charts in PDF form, and a file for the different flight plan forms we use. These may include the plans for the FSX flight planner, FSINN - SB4 flightplans, FSCommander, PMDG routes. I do not have FS9 loaded anymore. Some FMC's for the payware aircraft use the FS flight plan. These will be available for your use only if I put a NOTAM in the calendar with instructions on how to obtain it. Not all GFI's will have this.

Now to this part, again, if any of you want to have a US based GFI included on the calendar, send me a PM/E-mail with the complete route, aircraft type to use, and not over the miles stated above. Please don't post it here.

I would like this to be a fun place to gather and paticipate with our hobby. Come fly with me!

Thanks,
Wayne
