The REX program does a wonderful job of rendering the environment. It has other features which I do not use as I use Active Sky for the generation of the weather. And I don't use the flight planner in it also. So basically I use it just for the "themes" it creates.

It does take a while to change themes and make the weather environment, but once it is set that is it until you decide to change the look of your sky or clouds.

I have flight environment which does the "theme" thing also just REX does it nicer. Once you see the weather in REX you will wonder why not sooner.

REX and V.2 operate the same, basically just new and more images to chose from.
I do not notice any problems with frame rates on my system with REX .

Rex is several prorams in one package. use all or part. I only use the part to make the weather parts i.e. the sky, clouds, water, runway textures etc.. I use ASV EVO for weather generation. And the weather will change and reflect what conditions are enroute very nicely. I have more trouble with ASV making too good of weather I don't want to fly in it.

The REX Pictures of weather have replaced the FSX pictures, so that even if you make up your own weather you use the REX pictures for the weather.
