The plane I want to fly most is....

Post by Michael Blakely »

... the one I haven't flown in months, and doesn't fit into the rest of my current bid.

I've been flying my A320 this month, before that, the Concorde, and before that, the MD-80.

I'm craving some 707, MD-11, and 777 long hauls now.

I like flying the heavies but I don't like the long hauls. Once you reach altitude there's nothing to do but go away and come back when it's time to descend. At least on the 1 - 2 hour flights I get the watch the scenery (if it's not too boring).

Going across the pond is nice because you get to plan differently (NAT Tracks) and Euro approaches are totally different. However I don't do much because it takes time to review and relearn the procedures.

If I get a little more time I will probably enjoy more Euro flying.

Well I'm not sure about the others, but you could do the LOWI-EGLL flight still on your list in some neat retro British airways colors in a 707 right?

I love the old beast so much that Im of the opinion you can never go wrong with four JT3D's polluting the air in your wake!!

That would be correct. Our Commander in Chief (aka CEO) can fly any retro aircraft he wants on any current timetable flight. I decided to go that route since there aren't a whole lot of choices on the retro timetable, so I opened up the retro endorsed pilots to be able to fly any current timetable flight with a retro airplane as long as that plane can realistically make the flight. This goes for LAX hub only, I don't know the other Hub Manager's rules. Like I would deny Mike from doing anything anyways since he's my boss. :D

That's how it worked when the retro endorsement was implemented. The retro timetable didn't exist back then.

Just curious Mike. Are you flying the bus with a joystick or a yoke?
Joystick. I've never sprung for a yoke. Maybe after the kids are out of college in 15 years.

Agreed. All retro endorsed pilots may fly current timetable routes in retro equipment provided that:
a) they are qualified for the equipment size
b) the equipment is suitable for the airfields and distance

The retro timetables are just for added fun.
