FSRecorder vs AAV ACARS

I saw a thread about that too. It looks like they are taking that payware in some way, shape or form. They said they are allowing people to register for free now, but later it will be by invitation only. I don't get it. They're not the only black box type app out there. What is so special?????????

I found a nice little tool to log your flights in FlightSim. It is in BETA stage and is quite buggy as it is now, but I will still try it seriously.

I flew yesterday from DFW to Atlanta and the tool behaved quite well... but when I landed, I found an interesting stat.

I landed quite smoothly and held the plane floating almost kissing the runway and AAV Acars gave me a touchdown VS of 250, while FSRecorder gave me a green line (which means good job) of 112.

In other cases I have landed quite smoothly only to see AAV ACARS pull some numbers like 300 or 450 fpm touchdown.... So...

Which one is correct? I would like to think that AAV ACARS is flawed, but who knows?

I have a theory. I think FSACARS is measuring VS based on the nose gear instead of the main gear. I say this because I've had some landings I that were very good but because I was trying for a soft landing I had a high angle of attach so the nose was high. My VS per FSACARS was high. Other times I've had landings that i didn't think were that good because I was high on approach but would get a decent VS speed from FSACRS.

Try it out and tell me what you find.
