I did this same upgrade about a year ago. I basically have the same system as you except I have 8G of RAM instead of the 16G you have and I have the Nvidia GEForce GTX 1060. I use REX for my clouds and weather. I've had not problems with CTD's with P3Dv4. I do get a 5sec - 15 sec freeze when flying the FNO's (Friday Night Ops) online and flying into one of my payware (FSDreamTeam or Orbx) airports occasionally (I assume it is loading the airport scenery).

The BIG headache is the a/c. I too have the PMDG 777, the Aerosoft A319/320, and the FeelThere Embraers planes. With the Embraers there is an upgrade path and you pay about $17 to get the P3Dv4 versions if you own the FSX versions. Unfortunately PMDG and Aerosoft do not provide upgrades and force you to purchase the a/c all over again. Though I really liked the 777 I refuse to pay another $100 to purchase the P3Dv4 version. I have the iFly version of the 737 and really like it. They have a 747 available for P3Dv4 and may be supporting some other heavies soon so I'm just going to wait for them.

As for the A319/320, I'm waiting on one of their seasonal sales to possibly repurchase this a/c, or I may just purchase a CRJ instead.

I also had the CoolSky Super80Pro MD82 and I have a coupon that provides a discount to upgrade but I think I will eventually just buy the Maddog MD80 for PeDv4 instead. It seems to have more features and be more up-to-date than the ported-over version of the Super80Pro.

My caution is that there is not much freeware for P3D, especially airliners, so plan what you want, price it out, and look at your budget before you make the leap.

Pete Murray wrote: 07-28-2019 06:42 PM Thanks Ted, what license did you go with for P3D? As for freeware, I really gave that up with FS9; with FSX everything is bought.
I also have some Blackbox widebody, which is now P3D compatible.
Like everyone else I know, I went with the Academic License.
