A new flight PC, wonderful!
Sounds like a fair one.
Everybody had their own expense and tastes in computers and everybody always seems to have " a better one" than each of us. If'n it works, go for it.

Peruse the forum on the computer specs and feedbacks from our other members and see what we all have to say about such things.

Good luck with it.

Craig Meyer wrote:Yes i do want to get some nice payware planes as all i have are the stock FSX. sounds like video card and processor are the things to be careful about.

My laptop is so overwhelmed its not funny. I have to delete planes if i want to add a new one and half of the free ones cause my pc to crash or I have no flight controls. kinda hard doing a check ride without brakes or throttle! Looking forward to better graffics and a whole terabite of space!
If you're thinking of getting a bigger graphics card you need to be careful that the power supply in the computer will handle the extra load. You can probably find some detailed info on that through Google or searching sites like Tom's Hardware.

For FSX the #1 factor in performance is cpu horsepower, then #2 is graphics.

I'm sure you'll see a huge improvement with this system over your present, but don't expect to max the sliders out.

I have a similar rig to that myself.

Intel I7 860 @ 2.80 ghz

8 GB DDR3 Ram

ATI Radeon 5770 1024MB dedicated memory

1 TB Hard Drive

It's a Gateway FX series and I can run FSX pretty well with sliders about 3/4 the way full. I have ground traffic on roads and at the airports and it's still smooth. If I get into real busy airports, then it might stutter a little, but not to bad.
