Currency policy update coming this summer

Post by Michael Blakely »

All Pilots,

We have some exciting changes coming this summer to our currency system. As many of you have found out, we automated our currency system in December 2011 to automatically move pilots to an "inactive" status after 30+ days of inactivity. This resulted in some comments and discussion on our long standing 30 day currency rule. The AAV management team believes that one way to reward pilots that have advanced through the ranks and shown dedication to AAVirtual is to give these pilots more flexibility in their currency. With our new currency system, as you move through the ranks, you'll be given more time to complete a flight while remaining current:

Trainee - file a FREP at least once every 30 days
2nd officer - file a FREP at least once every 35 days
1st officer - file a FREP at least once every 40 days
Captain - file a FREP at least once every 45 days
Sr. Captain - file a FREP at least once every 60 days
Commander - file a FREP at least once every 90 days

We need to make some updates to our software to put this into effect, so it will be rolled out later this summer. You'll see an announcement and an updated Pilot Handbook when we put this into effect. Hope you like it.
Mike
