Limo 1

Post by Michael Blakely »

Monday night I saw a C-5 climbing slowly over San Diego. I didn't think much about it until I found out later in the evening that the president had been in San Diego on Monday morning. Then I thought, "hey, maybe Limo-1 was on-board that C-5."

It was after sunset and I was going by sound and size, so I could have got it wrong.

I believe you were correct Mike. It was/is at the San Diego MCAS Miramar Air Show this weekend 10/1-2/2011.
It is HUGE !

This is the second time I have been in one, and the first time to deplane whilst on the ground.
When I was in the 82nd ABN I was part of a test unit to parachute from the c5A. It didn't fair well in the tests and they didn't use it for jumping. :D

Our lab is about 800 meters away from "the busiest single-runway airport in the world" and I've gotten pretty good at telling the 5's from the 17's apart just by the sound. The real show-stoppers are the British Tornadoes when they take off. They rattle EVERYTHING!!!! It's a cool light show at night too. :D
